It is definitely my luck that less than a week after writing a stellar review for the Evo V 4G, something goes amiss. Today, I get a text message from a friend and I try to reply back as one would normally do with a cell phone. I put my phone down after hitting send and then wonder why there was no response about ten minutes later. I check my phone and I find this fantastic error message:
radio interface resource shortage
Cause Code: 64
Error Class: 2
I was baffled by this. So I searched for some solutions, barring the usual restart your phone and yank the battery. I found XDA thread which talked about users getting this error after having rooted and did something with s-off. Trust me, I don’t do that to phones, so that wasn’t my particular problem. Instead, I continued onto another XDA thread with a solved status about the same issue. Sadly, they insisted I called Sprint. I finally found a Sprint thread on having to update PRL.
To run the update, if you’re lucky, go to
Settings > System updates > Update PRL. If that doesn’t work for you, I would find your local authorized store of purchase and complain to them. Since the Evo V 4G is not an actual Sprint phone, I don’t think going to a Sprint store will help all that much. Nevertheless, this solved my problem for the time being and I hope it does not come back.
