I love Facebook. My friends use it, my parents use it and even my grandmother uses it. There are plenty of great uses for Facebook like sharing notes when someone misses a class, looking at pictures of my grandmother’s now one year old kitten. But then there are applications. They clutter my news feed and are totally pointless. This can all be fixed by just blocking those annoying applications.
Step 1: Find The Annoying Application
First, you need to find an application you want to block. Obviously, you can’t really block an application that you’re linked in with, but you can leave it first and then block it. I find mine easily by looking through the news feed.
Just look for the Application’s name. It’s usually right about the comment box. It doesn’t look like a link, but once you hover over it, you’ll see it underline. Click on it.
Step 2: Block It, Block It Good
Now, right under the Application’s profile picture, there is a list of actions you can do, Add to My Page’s Favorites, Suggest to Friends and our goal, Block Application.
Just click on that Block Application. You’ll be prompted: do you really want to block this application, because you won’t see any updates from it, from anyone, ever. Since you probably agree with that, continue blocking it. Finally, it will tell you that it was successful.
This should make your Facebook experience just that much better. I encourage everyone to share this with their friends on Facebook. The less applications they use, the less you have to block, the less you miss out on.
