I was looking at the Safari 4 Welcome page in Firefox 3, but for some reason, it didn’t work. I was poking around it’s sparse html and thought I was looking for a quick time movie. I was wrong.
You’ll find this in the source:
<div id="safari"> <div> <video id="compass" src="http://images.apple.com/safari/welcome/media/compass.mov" width="256" height="256"> <img src="http://images.apple.com/safari/welcome/images/safari.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Safari 4" /> </video> </div> </div>
That’s sneaky. I don’t think any other browser, except Firefox 3.1, has video tag support. Safari 4 should get kudos for that, I think.
I have to say that I love the first experience with Safari. You’re greeted with an awing visual presentation of a bright Apple, a welcome message, and the Safari logo and then directed to your first encounter with the best looking Speed-dial (it’s not exclusive to Opera anymore) yet.
